For Researchers OpenNotes is an exciting multi-center trial funded through a generous grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to allow patients to collaborate in the note writing process with their physician. This trial is designed to enhance doctor-patient communcation and patient's understanding of their health. This trial is a 12 month trial with a staggered start, during which patients will have electronic access to their clinical notes written by their Primary Care Providers (PCP's), allowing them to understand the healthcare system's view of their health, along with a continous reference from their last visit. This trial is being undertaken at 3 primary academic medical centers, with staff from 5 major institutions participating in the scientific part of the trial. This trial is designed to explore this exciting new area of patient empowerment and how it affects the doctor-patient relationship. For further information select the about page at left.
